Arctic Circle Flight – Airplane Tour
Discover the wonderful Grimsey Island!
This tour takes you to Grimsey Island, on the Arctic Circle.
Grimsey Island is a small island which is located 40 km off the north cost of Iceland. It is the northernmost inhabited place of Iceland, with 100 people living in the unique village of Sandvik. This is a prosperous and fertile community where fishing is the main activity.
Upon landing in Grimsey you have already crossed the Arctic Circle, because it lies right across the airstrip.
On the way back, weather permitting, we fly over the Krafla area and before landing you can view the beautiful Myvatn area from a unique point. Included in the trip is a guided tour around the island, which normally lasts about one hour.
Before departing from Grimsey Island all our passengers will receive a certificate stating that they have indeed crossed the Arctic Circle, the 66.6°N parallel.
