Snaefellsnes Peninsula – Airplane and Boat Tour
Enjoy the view over Snaefellsjokull Glacier and its surroundings
This tour gives you the chance to fly over the Snaefellsnes Glacier and its surroundings, as well as to enjoy a nice boat ride on the sea in Breidafjordur Bay and its astonishing scenery.
This tour takes you over the majestic Snaefellsnes Glacier (starting point of Jules Verne’s Journey to the Centre of the Earth), the stark beauty of the peninsula’s barren coastline and the islands of Breidafjordur Bay. We then take a boat trip from the town of Stykkisholmur to bring us up close to the birds and other wildlife on the islands. During the trip we snack on fresh seafood caught on the journey – there’s nothing tastier!
Breidafjordur is renowned for its stunning beauty, with the perfect frame of mountains, high and low, highlighting the scenery. The most famous of these mountains is the majestic and mystical Snaefellsjokull glacier, towering at the west end of the peninsula. Breidafjordur has a spectacular seascape consisting of shallow seas, long and small fjords and an inner part of intertidal areas dotted with about 3,000 islands, islets and skerries.
A rich variety of bird life, including puffins, nests in the cliffs and this is also the only area where the white tailed eagle nests in Iceland.
