Geothermal Wilderness - Helicopter Tour
Discover the amazing nature of Iceland from the sky!
On this tour, you will discover Icelandic nature in its entire splendor. The tour will take you to some of the most beautiful places of Iceland.
You will enjoy an amazing sight over the beautiful Glymur waterfall which is the highest waterfall in Iceland with 198 meters high. Glymur waterfall is located in the West of Iceland, in Hvalfjordur fjord.
Then you will discover the magnificent Thingvellir National Park where the Icelandic Parliament, Althingi, was established in 930 AD and where Icelanders declared their independence on June 17, 1944. The site has been added to the UNESCO's World Heritage List in August 2004.
At Thingvellir there is the Almannagja's fault, a split in Earth’s crust between America and Eurasia tectonic plates, which is clearly visible from the air, as you pass between Europe and America in a blink of an eye. You will also see the beautiful Thingvellir Lake, the biggest natural lake in Iceland.
Afterwards, we will show you the geothermal power plants of Nesjavellir and Hellisheidi. Both are located close to the still active volcano Hengill in the Southwest, from which they take their geothermal energy. Nesjavellir supplies about 25% of the hot water needed for the central heating of Reykjavik.
After having enjoyed a wonderful helicopter tour we will go back to Reykjavik.
