Bathing in the geothermal waters of Iceland

The geothermal area around Hengill plateau is the second most powerful on Earth. This is a high heated area due to a volcanic chamber stationed beneath it and thousands of hot springs and steaming vents can be found in the area.

In the valleys close to the town of Hveragerdi, hikers can find a number of pathways leading up to the rising plateau, where geothermal activity has enriched the view with its colorful display of moss, lichen and sulfuric rocks. There are also hot springs around every corner on your way. In this area you'll find a small stream of rushing warm water and it is unsure that you will find a more pleasant opportunity to take a bath anywhere in the world, including swimming pools at all the five star hotels of the world.
