The Classic South Coast
Volcanoes and Glaciers in Iceland
This trip combines the most famous destinations that will leave you wanting more. We will visit Geysir and Gullfoss waterfall, Landmannalaugar, Þórsmörk, Skaftafell National Park, the Jökulsárlón glacier lagoon and the Laki volcano. Both short and longer day hikes will allow you to get up close and personal. The colors of Landmannalaugar is something you have never seen before and from there we go to the glacier valley of Þórsmörk where we will hike the up to Fimmvörðuháls, next to the famous glacier Eyjafjallajökull. From here we go to the south coast and all the way to Vík and possibly see some puffins. Vatnajökull National Park is the next stop where we will visit Skaftafell which is next to Iceland's highest mountain and Europe's largest glacier, Vatnajökull. We also visit a glacier lagoon created by the melting of Vatnajökull where amazing icebergs float around in the deep blue water. Depending on the season we can possibly see the mysterious northern lights or the phenomenal midnight sun decorating the Vatnajökull icecap. This trip takes you to the places that made Iceland a famous destination.
