DescriptionWe start by visiting Thingvellir National Park, where the Icelandic parliament Alþingi was established in the year 930 AD and which was added to UNESCO’s World Heritage List in August 2004. At Thingvellir, the Icelanders declared their independence on 17 June 1944. We continue to the beautiful Gullfoss waterfall in the golden rays of the setting sun. Gullfoss is a powerful waterfall that runs in the river Hvita in Haukadalur. From there we visit the geothermal area around the incredible spouting geysers of Geysir and Strokkur. Geysir, sometimes known as The Great Geysir was the first geyser described in a printed source and the first known to modern Europeans. The English word geyser (a spouting hot spring) derives from Geysir. Enjoy the echoing of spouting hot springs into the peaceful evening glow. This is a great opportunity to experience romantic tranquility in a beautiful area that touches everyone.
