This unforgettable tour focuses on Iceland’s attraction number one – the nature. Experience all the wonders of south and west Iceland, including hot spring areas, mysterious glaciers and magnificent waterfalls.

The duration of this tour is 7 days and 6 nights. You will stay 4 nights at different hotels while in the countryside and 2 nights in Reykjavík. It is possible to extend your stay in Reykjavík if you wish. The accommodation offered is all with private facilities for your convenience.

This tour covers all the attractions found in the south and west part of Iceland. You are never in more then 2-3 hours drive from Reykjavik. 
You cover a great deal of Iceland within a short period but you still have the flexibility to decide how short/long your travel days are.

As in all of our organized self drive tours, you will receive a detailed itinerary as well as a map upon arrival at your first accommodation. For your safety and in case of emergency or after hours assistance, you will be provided with an emergency phone number. 

DAY 1

Arrival and overnight in Reykjavik.

DAY 2

Travel via Hvalfjörður to the agricultural region of Borgarfjordur. You will drive pass the magnificent Eldborg crater on route to Snæfellsnes peninsula where the mysterious Snæfellsjökull glacier towers over its surroundings.

Optional: Snow scooter tour on Snæfellsjökull glacier.

DAY 3

Explore the countless natural wonders of the Snæfellsnes peninsula. Visit Arnarstapi sea cliffs with varied birdlife and the rocky beach of Djúpalónssandur before driving along the north coast through bustling fishing villages.

Optional: Boat tour from Stykkishólmur. 

DAY 4

Visit the historic site of Reykholt, Hraunfossar waterfall and Deildartunguhver, the most powerful hot spring in Europe. Continue to Þingvellir National Park, site of the ancient Icelandic parliament (4WD needed for Kaldidalur valley). End the day with a visit to the famous Geysir hot-spring area and Gullfoss waterfall. 

DAY 5

Discover the south shore, viewing the spectacular Skogafoss and Seljalandsfoss waterfalls, Mýrdalsjökull glacier and the black beaches around Vík. Visit Dyrhólaey* headland where thousands of puffins nest every summer.  Return to Reykjavík.

Optional: Snow scooter tour on Mýrdalsjökull glacier, kayak tour from Stokkseyri.

*Please note that Dyrholaey is closed during nesting season in spring, middle May til June 23rd.

DAY 6

Drive to Reykjanes peninsula and visit the moon like surrounding of Lake Kleifarvatn and Krýsuvík geothermal area with bubbling mud pools.  Visit Grindavík fishing village and the famous Blue Lagoon for a relaxing bath.

Optional: Bathing in the Blue Lagoon, massage in the waters of the Blue Lagoon.
