Long Dark Days

Winter darkness in Iceland, 3 days, 2 nights. Northern lights.

When the time of the year comes in Iceland whereas the day is short and the gloom of night lingers most of the time, Extreme Iceland uses it to travel the lonely interior where the short brightness of the day gives us an eerie light and absolute tranquility. And as there are few people traveling the highlands of Iceland this time of the year, we will get the feeling of being alone in the world.

Description

From Reykjavik we'll head into the interior and if the ancient gods of weather allow, we will probably get a glimpse at the astonishing landscape that passes by bathed in the shine of the moonlight and Aurora Borealis - but since it's Iceland we can't promise anything.

We will behave like the sun itself, travel between cabins while the brightness of the lasts and and enjoy the company of each other and the warmth of the cabin when the night falls.

Participants can choose from glacier hiking, mountain hiking, short treks or just drive around in a 4x4 mountain truck during the day but when the sun settles behind the horizon we'll head back to the cabin where we will enjoy the company of each other and good food and participants may expect to get a deep sleep in the silent winter night of the Icelandic interior.
