Hot spring walks near Reykjavik
Natural hot bath and hot springs all around
The geothermal area around Hengill plateau is the second most powerful on Earth. This is a high heated area due to a volcanic chamber stationed beneath it and thousands of hot springs and steaming vents can be found in the area.
In the valleys close to the town of Hveragerdi, hikers can find a number of pathways leading up to the rising plateau, where geothermal activity has enriched the view with its colorful display of moss, lichen and sulfuric rocks. There are also hot springs around every corner on your way. In this area you'll find a small stream of rushing warm water and it is unsure that you will find a more pleasant opportunity to take a bath anywhere in the world, including swimming pools at all the five star hotels of the world.
Guaranteed departures - Summer:
For minimum 2 persons on Wednesdays with a pick up from Reykjavík between 8:30-9:00 and from N1 in Hveragerði at 9:30, from the 15th of May – 15th of September. On other days it is minimum 4 persons.
Guaranteed departures - Winter:
For minimum 2 persons everyday with a pick up from Reykjavík between 9:00-9:30 from the 16th of September – 14th of May and from 15th of November to 15th of February the pick-up time is 10:00-10:30 and the meeting time in Hveragerði is 11:00. This is due to shorter days/daylight.
Summer price: 9.990 ISK per person. 12.990 ISK per person including pick-up.
Winter price: 14.990 ISK per person including pick-up from Reykjavík.
* If you are staying at one of the many hotels and guesthouses in the city center then your pick up for your tour will be at 9:00 from our outdoor shop “Cintamani Center” at Laugavegur 11. The shop is located in the heart of the old city center.

Duration of trip: 5 - 6 hours.
Available: All year round.
Minimum: 2-4 persons
Maximum: 40 persons.
Age limit: 12 years.
Bring with you: Warm outdoor clothing, waterproof jacket and pants, some headgear and gloves. We do recommend good hiking boots!! You can rent hiking boots for 1.000 ISK, please contact us for rental availability.
