Description

Grimsey Island is a small island which is located 40 km off the north coast of Iceland. It is the northernmost inhabited place of Iceland, with 100 people living in the unique village of Sandvik. This is a prosperous and fertile community where fishing is the main activity.

Upon landing in Grimsey you have already crossed the Arctic Circle, because it lies right across the airstrip.
