Airplane Day Tour Skaftafell & Jokulsarlon Lagoon
Our meeting point in Reykjavik Domestic Airport is located behind Hotel Natura, in the building marked “Birk Flight Service.” Upon arrival, we will prepare for departure and your pilot will give you a briefing of the intended flight plan and procedures.
On the flight to the National Park Skaftafell, visibility permitting, passengers can enjoy the view of; Eyjafjallajökull, Mt. Hekla, Iceland most famous volcano , its first recorded eruption was in 1104. Since then it has erupted fifteen times, the last in the year 2000. Landmannalaugar, the beautiful valley between the mountains; Heimaey, Iceland largest island and many glaciers.
In Skaftafell, passengers have options to go on a glacier walk, take a boat trip on the glacier-lagoon Jökulsárlón among mass of Icebergs, take a trip Cape Ingolfshöfði historical nature reserve that is home to thousands of nesting seabirds, like Puffins and the great Skuas or just enjoy a day walking around in the National Park. In Skaftafell we also have Hotel Skaftafell that offers accommodations and good service, or you can pick up a light snack at the local store there.
This Day Tour includes roundtrip flight. Additional cost is for local tours like glacier walks, boat tours and Cape Ingólfshöfði trips. Passengers are responsible for their own food and beverages. Transportation is provided in planned local tours, and car ride for passenger into the National Park is also included for passengers not going on a local tour.
We operate three types of aircraft depending on the number of passengers. Our fleet consists of a Piper Chieftain, a Piper Navajo and a Cessna 207. All of our planes feature large windows, so you can be sure of a good view during the flight. Our craft are also fitted with an intercom system which allows 2 way communication with the pilot.
Flying in Iceland is of course dependant on weather conditions, and your safety is our principle concern. If we are unable to fly due to the weather, we will make arrangements to reschedule your flight or refund your ticket.
