Distance yourself from city life and head into the wilds of Iceland on an ATV quad bike. In the evening, go on the hunt for the spectacular Northern Lights! This combo day tour starts with a quad bike journey into Reykjavík city’s surrounding mountains and ends under the light show of the aurora borealis.
ATV Mountain Safari
Hit rugged mountain trails on an ATV! Meet your guide at your selected pick-up point in Reykjavik and whisked just 15 minutes away from downtown. Our guides will get you geared up and give you a short safety briefing. Then we’ll hop on our quad bikes and zoom towards the Hafrafell Mountain summit.
Traverse rocky lava fields and beautiful scenery as you ascend the mountainside. At the peak, you’ll find breathtaking panoramic views of Reykjavik, the North Atlantic Ocean, and the towering Esja Mountain. On the way back we’ll venture toward Hafravatn Lake for another glimpse of Icelandic natural beauty.
After a full hour of cruising the twisting trails, we’ll return to base. Head back to Reykjavik for food and a short break before going back into the country in search of the Northern Lights.
Magical Auroras: Northern Lights Hunt
Time to hunt for the Northern Lights! Once night falls, you’ll be picked up again from Reykjavik, pile into a minibus, and head out of the capital city. Depending on the aurora forecast, we may head to Thingvellir National Park, Reykjanes (The Southern Peninsula), or maybe even Borgarfjordur, a fjord west of Reykjavik.
Our local guides are aurora experts. They’ll take you to the best places to watch the auroras under the dark night sky. Once you’re away from the light pollution of Reykjavik, exit your vehicle and bask under the glow of the aurora borealis!
The Northern Lights can come in many different colors, from the usual yellow-green to pink and red to bluish purple. Our guides will bring cameras to snap photos of you and your group. You’ll leave with a precious keepsake to remember the awesome aurora borealis.
After you’ve finished your successful aurora hunt, we’ll head back to Reykjavik.
Fun and fanciful, this 7-hour ATV and Northern Lights combo-tour will leave you not only out of breath, but also breathless.
