The tour guides have spent a lot of time to find the best, most exciting full day ATV route for you to enjoy. There was a demand from customers to go on longer tours, travelling farther away from the city, but still keeping it a day tour, and this tour is our response to that. It is a perfect and unique opportunity to see as much of Iceland‘s raw nature as possible, both above ground and below it.
We start the day by picking you up at your hotel and drive out of the city to our base camp, which is located just 15 minutes outside of Reykjavík. Once there, we begin gearing up and give you a safety briefing for the coming day - an important part of ensuring your safety on the tour!
But we won‘t waste much time at the base and kick off the tour by heading out and making our way to the top of Úlfarsfell Mountain. Once we get to the top, you‘ll have a nice panoramic view of Reykjavík and the Reykjanes Peninsula, which we’ll soon be passing through. We descend the mountain and drive towards the Blue Mountains, a beautiful mountain range painted with bright green moss and white snow caps.
Krýsuvík geothermal area
We continue travelling through the dirt trails into the far reaches of the Reykjanes Peninsula. There we’ll come across a beautiful natural pearl, in the midst of the rocky lava mountains, Lake Djúpavatn. This is a perfect time to stop and appreciate the immense beauty of the day. At our next stop, you’ll quickly come to understand just how active Iceland when it comes to volcanoes: The Krýsuvík Geothermal Area. Here, the Earth breathes and bubbles with life. The mineral mud pits and hot water creates a stunning display of Iceland‘s power and beauty. Next we head onwards through another mountainous, and finally arrive at our final destination, the beautiful town of Hvergerði, where a bus will pick up the group and return you to your hotel.
