Thrilling Helicopter Ride

Meet us at Skaftafell Terminal, where your pilot and expert glacier guide will be waiting for you. They will present you with the flight route and provide a safety briefing.

Next, jump aboard your helicopter and prepare for an extraordinary flight! We’ll fly over the icy outrunners of Vatnajökull, Iceland’s (and Europe’s) largest glacier. Vatnajökull spans 7,900 km2 (3,100 mi²), which is more than six times the size of New York City. This giant mass of ice shapes the coastline of Southeast Iceland and feeds the country’s greatest rivers.

Kick back and take in the vast territories of glacial tongues and towering mountain peaks from the comfort of our cozy helicopter.

We’ll land on Skeiðarárjökull Glacier, a part of Vatnajökull, where our secret ice cave resides.

Ice Cave Tour by Vatnajokull Glacier

Upon landing, we’ll take a short walk to the opening of the glacier ice cave. This remote ice cave in Iceland can only be accessed by helicopter and is nicknamed “the Blue Dragon.” The cave is massive, so prepare to be wowed by the sheer size of this crystalline dungeon!

Enter the frozen tunnel, where the ceilings are high enough for you to easily stand upright. Once inside, you might just freeze in awe at the blue glacial ice in front of you. Your guide will provide you with expert commentary and take you to the main chamber of the cave.

Gaze at astonishing ice formations and scaly ice walls. Take advantage of this unique opportunity and touch the ancient ice!

After about 30 minutes in the belly of the Blue Dragon, exit the cave feeling enchanted. Then board your helicopter and take another inspiring flight over the majestic glacier.

Once we’ve landed back at Skaftafell Terminal, we'll say our goodbyes and part ways with memories to last a lifetime.
