Hraunfossar / Barnafoss / Buðir / Arnarstapi / Snæfellsjökull
We depart early in the morning on board our comfortable bus towards the famous peninsula of Snæfellsnes located west of the island. We will start the workshop at the wonderful waterfalls Hraunfossar and Barnafoss flowing into the river Hvitá's turquoise blue waters. We will then have lunch in the small town of Borganes. We will take the road to the photogenic church in Buðir with a backdrop of the majestic Snæfellsjökull glacier. Next stop is Arnarstapi fishing village, where we contemplate, feel and photograph the wild coast with it's incredible rock formations. We will finish the day at Grundarfjörður, stopping at the feet of the famous mountain Kirkjufell church where we have dinner and spend the night in beautiful cottages ideally situated to capture the sunset.
Golden Circle / Thingvellir / Öxarárfoss / Geysir / Gullfoss
The day starts with a hearty breakfast (just like every morning) and then we will venture out to capture the sunrise facing Kirkufell. It is now time to leave the Snaefellsnes peninsula and move on to discover the Golden Circle.
Firstly we visit the largest natural lake in Iceland, Lake Pingvallavatn. Following this, Öxarárfoss the magnificent waterfall that empties the heart of the tectonic fault Almannagjá. Then we will go to the Geysir geothermal area with its hot springs and its famous geyser Strokkur and we will finish the mighty waterfall Gullfoss. We have dinner and spend the night in the local area.
Seljalandfoss / Skogafoss / Myrdalsjokull / Dyrholaey / Vik
We leave in the early morning to immerse ourselves in the heart of the breathtaking scenery of the South Coast. Its beauty and diversity offer many photographic and enchanting compositions. We begin with the iconic Seljalandfoss and Skogafoss waterfalls and then we head towards the Myrdalsjokull glacier. We will then discover Dyrholaey cliffs, and end our day photographing the sunset on the famous black sand beaches of Vik, right at the foot of the cliffs of Mount Reynisfall. Here we are faced by sea sculpted lava columns at Reynisdrangar.
Fjaðrárgljúfur / Skaftafell Park / Svartifoss waterfall & Skaftafelljokull Hike
Full steam ahead, as we continue along the south coast to the shores of Europe's largest glacier Vatnajokull and incredible glacier tongues created by the surrounding mountains and waterfalls. On the way, we stop at the fascinating Fjaðrárgljúfur canyon which was created and sculpted by the eroding glacial waters of yesteryear. Back on the road through the lava fields to Skaftafell, a mossy national park full of natural wonders. We will stop for lunch and then head out on two small treks, the first takes us to the foot of the beautiful waterfall Svartifoss set in basaltic rock and the second offers us a panoramic view above Skaftafelljokull glacier as well as Iceland's tallest mountain, Hvannadalshnúkur.
Depending on the weather and your wishes, we will choose the location where we will photograph the sunset. Then we have dinner and then we will discuss post-treatment techniques.
Svinafell Glacier hiking / Fjallsárlón/ Jokulsarlon / Hofn
Leaving early we will take a short hike on the glacier Swinefell using ice axes and crampons (provided by Extreme Iceland), if the weather permits. After a quick lunch, we will drive on, immersing ourselves in a scenery both grand and breaktaking, the Jokulsarlon area. This photographers's heaven is where Vatnajokull glacier and its immense glacier lagoon reigns supreme facing the Atlantic ocean, its waves and black sand beaches dotted with icebergs. On the way, we will discover the Fjallsárlón glacier, surrounding mountains, the glacier tongue is photogenic as is the quiet lake where the icebergs seem frozen in the calm waters. Now, it's time to hit the road towards the East and the small fishing town of Höfn. Along the way we will contemplate the many mountain ranges and impressive glacial tongues. We finish the day below the iconic mountains of Vestrahorn and Stokkness in order to capture the sunset.
Return Reykjavik along the south coast
Unfortunately, all good things must end! It's the last day of our trip and so as not to miss a beat, we will start the day at the lagoon Jokulsarlon by capturing the sunrise. Then we'll hit the road and drive along the south coast in the opposite direction, we will make several photo stops. The Arctic weather is often very changeable with shifting light conditions present throughout the day, this will allow us to capture different moods to places we already visited. We also make a stop for lunch and we will arrive back in Reykjavik by the afternoon.
