The tour will start bright and early when we will collect you from your Reykjavik pickup location. We start with the horse riding tour.
We head to the farm Vellir in Olfus, where we will kit you out and one of our friendly guides will give a quick safety talk. Then we will introduce you to your unique and beautiful Icelandic horse, which are smaller and stockier than normal horses: to help them survive the colder climate. From there we will travel off the beaten path into the very heart of the Icelandic wild, where you will see some incredible native species to the backdrop of incredible scenery.
What better way to understand Icelandic nature than a peaceful horse ride across varying terrain. Once we get back to the farm we will enjoy a quick traditional Icelandic lunch before heading out on our next adventure.
We will travel to the Drumbo base camp at the foot of the Hvita River, where after a brief safety talk; we will go out onto the exciting glacial waters. Hvita itself is a perfect combination of serene stretches of icy clear water and pumping whitewater rapids. Of particular interest is Brúarhlöð Canyon (the white river canyon), which is majestically beautiful. Brúarhlöð Canyon has been sculpted by the river over the millennia and contains imperious rock formations and potholes amongst its breccia walls.
Watch out for the two imperious rock pillars, known as Karl and Kerling (Man and Women), which local legend claims are petrified trolls! While there, the intrepid among you will get the opportunity to leap from a cliff into the cold, fresh waters below. This is the perfect day out for families and is suitable for children above the age of 11. Your safety is paramount and our friendly, certified guides will always be on hand to make sure that nothing goes wrong. Everyone who wants an exciting day out with their family should make this trip one of the first things that they book on their Icelandic adventure!
