The Game of Thrones tour
If you're an enthousiast of the legendary sagas of wealthy families, Iceland is the country for you and if you like your drama as deep and dark as some of Iceland’s glacial lakes you’ll love one of our new tours. Filmed in Iceland, the TV series "Game of Thrones" has showcased some of the country’s most breathtaking scenery. This tour has been crafted to take you to the these sites.
Walk in the footsteps of your favorite characters and get up close and explore the locations used in this gripping drama.
This tour has been prepared under the careful direction of an Icelandic actor on the series. Gregor Clegane or better known as "The Mountain" was played by Icelandic actor Hafthor Julius Bjornsson.
We journey to the dramatic gorge at Thingvellir – the stomping ground of the White Walkers and the trail of the Wildlings from "North of the Wall." You'll be able to soak up the raw and dramatic atmosphere provided by the magnificent nature at Thingvellir and get to know the symbolic significance of the setting in context to the plot.
We also explore Thjorsardalur and the "Settlement Era Viking Lodge" – the location of the greatest massacre and most elaborate scene of the series so far.
Indulge your imagination and your senses and soak up some Icelandic natural beauty in this new tour.
As an extra bonus, you can also see locations used in other the films "The Secret Life of Walter Mitty".
"Shatteringly beautiful, barren and brutal"
"For the Far Northern locations of Game of Thrones, we wanted something shatteringly beautiful, barren and brutal. In Iceland, we found all of that, as well as a highly professional production crew."
- Janet Graham Borba, Game of Thrones, 2013
Iceland is only one filming location used by the show’s producers while filming Game of Thrones’ fourth season.
