Meeting point: Solheimajokull parking lot (63.530524, -19.370576), at the selected time (9:00, 12:30 or 13:00).
Included: Guided glacier hike, introduction to ice climbing (optional), certified glacier guide and all necessary glacier and climbing gear.
Bring with you: Warm layers (not cotton), headwear, scarf, gloves, waterproof jacket and pants, hiking boots are essential, it is not possible to fit ice crampons onto any other footwear. We recommend that you rent ice climbing boots so that you can enjoy the tour to the fullest.
Stops during winter: Please note that from 1st of November until 16th of February, we won‘t be able to stop at Skogafoss due to limited daylight. However, we will have a view of the magnificent Skogafoss from our minibus.

Are you ready for an adventure? This tour includes both glacier hiking and ice climbing on Solheimajokull glacier. Explore the fascinating features of the glacier including blue ice and large crevasses. Add a little excitement as we (safely) climb up the walls of ice. All the while enjoying the amazing views around us!
This tour is both available with pick up in Reykjavík and meet-on-location. Choose to be collected at your selected pickup point in Reykjavik or meet us at Sólheimajökull glacier in South Iceland.
Reykjavik pick-up time: If you have chosen to be collected from Reykjavik then we will start bright and early: please be ready to be picked up from your selected pick-up point, note that pickup can take up to 30 minutes. If you don’t know where you are staying, don’t worry, simply select the “To Be Announced” option and then update us when you have more details.
Meet on location:
If you have decided to meet us on location, then please be ready when the tour starts, at 09:00 or 13:00 (9am/1pm) at Sólheimajökull Parking Lot. It will take you approximately 2-2.5 hours to drive there from Reykjavik so please leave yourself plenty of time: trust us you won’t want to miss anything on Sólheimajökull glacier, so it’s worth leaving a little early. The GPS coordinates for the parking lot are 63°31’00.48″N, 19°22’00.12W(WGS84).
The Sólheimajökull glacier is an outlet glacier, which extends out of Iceland’s fourth biggest glacier Mýrdalsjökull glacier. Sólheimajökull itself is an ever evolving wonderland, combining rugged rock formations, stunning ice sculptures, majestic water cauldrons and deep crevasses. Sólheimajökull, is a truly breath-taking place, containing majestically, unique features that you won’t be able to find anywhere else in the world. This unique hike on Sólheimajökull, one of the few retreating glaciers in the world, will provide you with memories that will last you a lifetime.
The tour will start with one of our friendly certified guides giving you an introduction to the equipment that you will be using and a safety briefing. We will provide you with all the equipment that you need for Sólheimajökull: ice axes, crampons, helmets and safety lines. Your safety is of course paramount and our friendly experts will ensure that you are always safe on the ice.
On our way back to Reykjavik, we will stop at Skógafoss & Seljalandsfoss waterfalls: Two of Iceland’s most beautiful waterfalls.
Skógafoss, is a majestic waterfall: the perfect way to relax after your glacier climbing adventure. If you are lucky enough to visit on a sunny day the spray from the waterfall will produce a rainbow, which only enhances is otherworldly majesty. Local legend claims that there is treasure hidden in a cave behind Skógafoss: whether it’s true or not Skógafoss will provide you with memories that you will treasure forever!
Seljalandsfoss waterfall is also one of many unique natural pearls on the south coast, and is quite unique since you can walk behind it. A total must-see!
The whole tour will last about 4.5 hours in total: 3 hours of which will be spent on the ice, including the time spent climbing Sólheimajökull glacier. So don’t delay, book this tour today, for an experience that you will never forget!
What if I don’t own all of these clothing necessaries?
Don’t worry; you will be able to rent any piece of clothing that you don’t own during our easy booking process. So whether you need sturdy hiking boots, a waterproof jacket or pants you will definitely be able to experience the majesty of Sólheimajökull, whilst staying warm and comfortable. We recommend that you rent sturdy ice climbing boots so that you can enjoy the experience to the fullest.
