- The glacier kayaking tour will take 1.5 hours in total.
- The glacier hiking tour will take around 3.5 hours in total, meaning that we expect to finish
- We recommend that you wear warm clothing, including - warm top and bottom layers,
warm headwear, gloves, a scarf, and a waterproof top layer. It is unlikely, but possible, that
you’ll get wet during the kayaking portion of the tour, meaning that a change of clothes will
- Sturdy hiking shoes with ankle support are strongly recommended.
- If you do not own any of these items, then you can rent them from us during the booking
process – please note that we cannot lend you any items on the day.
Meeting point information:
You can choose which activity you would like to start with in the booking widget on the right side. If you choose to do the glacier hike first, your original meeting point will be at the Skaftafell parking lot. If you choose to do the kayaking first, your original meeting point will be at the Jokulsarlon glacier lagoon parking lot. Upon booking, you will receive a confirmation voucher that includes all important information such as your meeting point and time. Please note that driving between the two meeting points will take approximately 40 minutes. Transport between the locations is not included.

Kayaking on Jökulsárlón Glacier Lagoon
We’ll all meet on location at the Jökulsárlón Glacier Lagoon parking lot and get ready to begin the kayaking part of the tour. Your qualified kayak guide will then take you down to Jökulsárlón, where we’ll have a brief paddling lesson and launch the kayaks, for the trip of a lifetime.
Jökulsárlón is a genuine natural wonder that is ideal for kayaking. It’s most famous for the sapphire icebergs that break away from Breiðamerkurjökull Glacier and glide out towards the open ocean. A friendly population of seals resides in the glacier lagoon and glorious seabirds swoop overhead. While, the dramatic glacial peaks of Vatnajökull, the largest glacier in Europe, and Breiðamerkurjökull rise on the horizon. There is nothing quite like kayaking in this awe-inspiring place and we guarantee that it will provide memories that will last a lifetime.

Glacier Hike on Falljökull Glacier
You’ll meet us in the Skaftafell Parking Lot and to prepare for our exciting glacier hike. Then, we’ll hop aboard one of our specially designed super jeeps and make the scenic 15-minute drive to where our glacier hike begins.
We’ll be hiking on Falljökull Glacier, which lies to the south of Vatnajökull, the largest glacier in Europe. We’ll hike for around 30 minutes until we reach Falljökull’s peak – a glorious snowy peak that offers stunning vistas of some of Iceland’s most spectacular mountains, including the country’s highest– Hvannadalshnúkur.
From there we’ll strap on our ice crampons and head out onto the vast icy natural wonder. You’ll see meandering crevasses, which twist and turn through the glacier, dramatic moulins that descend into the glacier’s icy heart and stunning ice fall that radiate frozen energy.
Your friendly glacier guide will point out various points of interest, including Virkisjökull – a majestic glacial tongue that sprawls like an icy carpet all the way down to the sea. You’ll also learn about the way glaciers form and how they have helped to craft Iceland’s unique terrain. Hiking on a glacier is an experience without compare that combines profound natural beauty with exhilarating fun!
