Review on TripAdvisor

"We did the Sensational Iceland tour with Mimir. What a wonderful day! We saw so many beautiful sights that were not touristy, and got to do incredible things such as walking behind a huge waterfall and walking on a glacier. Mimir was patient and informative and very kind. He left a lasting impression on us. My sister and I will remember this for years to come and will be recommending many others to your company. Such a highlight of our time in Iceland."

Tour Description

Waterfall Seljalandsfoss

Solheimajokull glacier is a spectacular tongue of ice that flows down from Myrdalsjokull, the fourth largest glacier in Iceland. Travel through the south Iceland farming lands to the black sand beaches, thundering waterfalls, powerful volcanoes and majestic glaciers on Iceland´s south coast.

We start by stopping at "The hidden waterfall", Gljúfrabúi. A spectacular waterfall hidden inside a small gorge. After Gljúfrabúi, we take a short stroll over to the main attraction, Seljalandsfoss waterfall, where we can walk behind this magnificent wall of water.

Glacier Hike on Solheimajokull

After the excitement of Seljalandsfoss and getting a little bit wet, you should be ready for the glacier hike.

We gear you up with crampons and go over safety features before we set foot on the glacier. Sólheimajökull glacier is a part of Mýrdalsjökull, Iceland‘s fourth largest glacier that covers the infamous volcano Katla.

We spend one hour hiking on the glacier. This is not that difficult, but sometimes there is a 30 minute walk to the glacier (depending on conditions). The glacier hike should be suitable for all over the age of ten that are comfortable walking on uneven surfaces.

glacier hiking fun time

Let's have some fun!

The black-sand beach and Skogafoss

Then onwards for a leisurely stroll along the black sand beach of Reynisfjara. This beach features stacks of basalt columns that wall off surrounding cliffs scattered with caves.

Offshore you will see Reynisdrangar pillars, basalt rock stacks that rise from the sea. Icelandic legend says they were trolls turned into rock by the rising sun when they came home late after a fishing trip. We round off this great sightseeing tour with a stop at the Skógafoss waterfall.

On a clear day you may have a good view of famous volcanoes, Hekla and Eyjafjallajökull. When we drive under the foothills of Eyjafjallajökull you can get a glimpse of the Westman Islands, rising steeply from the ocean just a few kilometres off the coast.

This tour is great value and easy with an adventurous twist. Sights are breathtaking and where else in the world can you stand on the ice of a  glacier, walk behind a waterfall and stroll along a volcanic black sand beach on the same day?

Don't look elsewhere!!

Our guide Teitur was fantastic. He was very knowledgeable, friendly and funny. He never rushed and we had plenty of time to enjoy the beautiful landscape. Top marks to him! A friend of mine had gone on a trip with your company before we did - recommendations do work!

Simply Stunning Ice Caves

Our tour guide, Ash, was wonderful. He kept us updated on weather conditions and planned our arrival time at different locations based on how we could best experience everything and avoid the unfavorable weather as much as possible. Ash also found an ice cave for us to enter at the glacier and it was absolutely stunning; other friends who visited the same glacier on the same day on different tours did not get to experience this. A recommendation would be to recommend to future travelers to bring a change of clothes on this tour in the winter - even with waterproof clothing, we got soaked at the waterfalls and the black sand beach and it was impossible to dry off between stops.

Overall good experience

The tour was very enjoyable, I liked our guide and the experience over all. Although the only downfall was that of mother nature, not allowing for the glacier hike portion of the tour.

Fun trip to the south

Really enjoyed our trip. Our guide, Athor, was brilliant. Very knowledgeable and very funny too! I have already recommended this trip to a colleague visiting Iceland.

a spectacular experience

We had such a wonderful guide who ensured we were safe and enjoying our adventure. The tour was well paced and I felt we had the appropriate amount of time at each stop. I enjoyed the Icelandic music our guide played in the bus and all of the fun facts he had to share. The only thing that could make the experience even better would be wifi and cell phone chargers on the bus and perhaps some free refreshments! Overall it was a spectacular experience that I will recommend to friends and family!

Ash is the best

We had an absolutely amazing experience! Awesome group of 13 in the minibus was perfect and Ash was the best tour guide ever! Despite the poor weather, Ash made sure we got the absolute maximum out of our trip and the experience in the glaciers and ice caves is something I will treasure for life! I've already recommended this tour to a lot of friends and I hope they will do it at some point. The only suggestion I would make is if the tour could start an hour earlier so that you could also add in a stop at the plane wreck since we didn't get to go there even though we were quite close to it. But otherwise, thank you so much Ash for making this such a memorable and fun experience!

Thanks for an amazing tour

The sensational south guide was Alvero, sorry we cannot remember the name of the Northern lights guide. They both provided fabulous tours. Their knowledge & enthusiasm made for an extremely interesting and informative day & night.

The tour guide (Hathor) was wonderful!

Entertaining guide - Awesome tour

5 by Verified customer February 15, 2017
This tour was the highlight of our holiday! We had a chance to go to the waterfalls and the black sand beach but it was the glacier walk that was the most amazing part. This was largely due to our guide for the day, Alvero who had such enthusiasm and knowledge that he made it a day we will not forget. The Northern Lights tour in the evening was also really enjoyable even though the lights didn't put in an appearance. Again our guide (whose name we didn't get) was very entertaining with tales of local myths and legends. If you do one tour on your visit to Iceland we would recommend this one for sure!

Made Iceland feel like home

Rosa was our guide for this tour and she was fantastic. I loved her stories on the folklore of Iceland! Kristjan was our guide for the other days of the trip (1st-5th Feb) and he was truly amazing. I've had the hardest time being back in the UK because he made it feel like home. Honestly nothing to improve, it was just wonderful. Thank you!
