You’ll be picked up by your ATV Guide, and taken to our center where you’ll get your very own ATV. There are also bathrooms and free coffee available.
Our adrenaline-pumping excursion begins just 15 minutes from downtown Reykjavík. Discover the wild beauty of Iceland's countryside as you off-road up the rugged lava trails.
During the 1-hour Mountain Safari ATV Tour, you'll brave Hafrafell Mountain. Weave across rocky lava terrain in the wild Icelandic countryside. Feel the full power of your quad bike running up the mountain summit. At the peak, you'll be met with astonishing panoramic views of Reykjavík, Reykjanes Peninsula and Snӕfellsnes Peninsulas, the Blue Mountains, Faxaflói Bay, and Mount Esjan.
We'll take time to marvel at the views, so don't forget to pack your camera. Your ride will also include a stop at pristine Hafravatn Lake tucked between the mountains.
Next up, we’ll swing back into Reykjavik for a few minutes, where you can grab a lunch if you wish. Then it’s time to hop in your minibus to the world-famous Golden Circle.
Thingvellir National Park
The Golden Circle combines three of Iceland’s most famous sites on a few hours’ trip from Reykjavik. Our route begins with a visit to Thingvellir (Þingvellir) National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. This beautiful park was the birthplace of Icelandic democracy, dating back to 930 CE.
The park is not just historic. Thingvellir is also home to the Mid-Atlantic Rift, the only place in the world where the continental plates meet above sea-level.
Geysir Geothermal Area
We then drive to the Geysir geothermal area, also known as Haukadalur Valley. The area is ripe with hot springs, fumaroles, and geysers. Witness Mother Nature’s famous fountains, Geysir, Strokkur, Smiður, and Litli-Strokkur. Watch the explosive Strokkur geyser shoot its hot water from the Earth! This firecracker shoots boiling water 20-40 meters (65-130 feet) into the air every five to ten minutes.
After Geysir geothermal area, hop back in the bus and head to Gullfoss Waterfall. Gullfoss (translated to “Golden Falls”) is one of Iceland's most impressive waterfalls. The falls' glacial waters begin at Langjökull glacier and flow into the Hvítá river before cascading down Gullfoss. The powerful falls drops down in two levels. The first cascade is 11 meters (36 feet), while the second tier is 21 meters (69 feet).
Watch Gullfoss roar between Hvítá river canyon and drop 32 meters (105 feet) into Gullfossgjúfur Canyon. No Golden Circle route would be complete without a stop at this amazing natural wonder.
