From Reykjavik, we will set off to the famous Golden Circle, which consists of Thingvellir National Park, Geyser and Gullfoss Waterfall.
We will begin by visiting the Thingvellir National Park, which is famous for it's rich history and stunningly beautiful landscapes. Home of the historic site of Althingi - the world’s oldest operational parliament: Icelandic parliamentarians have been meeting at Althingi since 930 AD. Thingvellir National Park might be best known as the meeting point of the Eurasian and North American tectonic plates, which has resulted in some of the most unique geology in the world: having been crafted by both extreme heat from volcanoes and extreme cold by the ice.
From Þingvellir we head along gravel tracks toward the world-renowned geothermal area around the Geysir hot spring where you can witness gurgling bubbling water burst 25 meters high. This is the one spouting hot spring that all such phenomena on Earth are named after. The Geysir hot springs have become synonymous with Iceland and it is impossible not to appreciate the awesome power of nature when you see them. Whilst the famous Geyser is now relatively dormant, it is its neighbor Stokkur that entertains the crowds and draws the attention.
After we're all satisfied, we continue on to Gullfoss, “the Golden waterfall”, with practically no limit to how close you can stand next to it. Gullfoss is a great sight with water rushing down three steps of lava layers exhibiting breathtaking power and grandeur. Gullfoss is truly one of the natural wonders of the world and a perfect photo opportunity, in front of the cascading water. If we are lucky enough to visit Gullfoss on a sunny day, then the water turns a majestic golden color and a rainbow will form above the falls. Gullfoss, is truly a spectacular sight and should be on everyone’s bucket list.
By then you will no doubt be hungry, and it is possible to purchase some lunch at the Gullfoss Café. From there we will take the scenic journey to Langjökull glacier: a wild and untouched part of Iceland. Once we arrive at our mobile glacier base camp, you will be provided with all the equipment that you need to go snowmobiling: overalls, gloves and a helmet, but even so remember to dress up warm! Then you will meet your certified glacier guide, who will teach you how to operate a snowmobile safely, before you can officially get out onto the Glacier.
The Glacier Snowmobiling is a scenic and fun glacier tour, perfect for those who have never snowmobiled before!
Langjökull (The Long Glacier) will take your breath away: it is the second largest glacier in the country, yet completely devoid of human life and interference. Langjökull, is the very definition of unspoilt beauty. Covered in a blanket of perfect white snow, and home to several huge ice-filled volcanic craters, which contrast magnificently with the commanding volcanoes that surround the glacier: Langjökull is the reason why Iceland is nicknamed the land of fire and ice.
Langjökull will be an unforgettable experience: providing exhilarating fun against one of the world’s most unique backdrops.
After an eventful day taking in the Golden Circle sights and letting loose snowmobiling, you will be dropped off at your pick up location in Reykjavík so you can have dinner before being picked up in a Super Jeep for your Northern Lights hunt.
Expert Northern Lights guide will come and pick you up to take you off the beaten track to maximize your chances to see the Aurora Borealis. An unforgettable end to an unforgettable day!
This tour offers the adventure of a lifetime. An unmatched experience!
