Is a music festival downtown Reykjavik where you can listen to almost all your favourite Icelandic bands. Held the weekend before the first Monday in August.
The upcoming weekend is called Verslunarmannahelgin which roughly translates into The Tradesmen‘s weekend. It is always the weekend before the first Monday in August and it has evolved into a huge travel weekend. It has its roots in 1894 and was held initially for the working class hero.
All around the country there are different kind of festivals where you can find your favourite Icelandic band playing somewhere, have some fun and enjoy a long weekend as the Monday is off.
If you‘re staying in Reykjavik we recommend taking a look at Innipúkinn music festival, where you‘ll find the cream of the crop of the Icelandic music scene playing. Along with some great music, you can listen to comedians do stand-ups and there will be food trucks at the venue as well.
It all takes place at Húrra and Gaukurinn, two clubs next to each other. The area in front, called Naustin, will be turned into grass park where you can relax, have some deli food and listen to DJ‘s. On Saturday you can even do some shopping as there will be a clothing/flea market pop up full of both new and vintage clothing.
