The Festival of the Sea ‘’Hátíð Hafsins’’ is combined with two feasts Fishermen’s Day which is held on the first Sunday in June and Harbour Day on Saturday. A two day festival that celebrates all aspects of the sea, all across the country. It is one of Iceland most family-friendly festivals, entertainment for the whole family by the harbor. Guest can enjoy all kinds of activities and events, as well see all kinds of sea creatures on display in tubs.

The Iceland fishing industry has been in Iceland for many centuries and will probably always remain as one of Iceland's biggest industries. Fishermen are putting themselves at high risk every time they go out on the sea and Icelanders honor the fisherman role by holding a Fisherman Day.
