Labor Day is also known as May Day is always on the 1st of May each year. The ‘’Holiday of the Proletariat’’ in Iceland, when everyone is supposed to get the day off and marches in the streets to protest for various things, you can say it is kinda a free-for-all protest day. The marches are going in the whole country but the biggest protest is held in Reykjavik, Icelandic capital. People get also artistic as they make their own sign to show what they’re protesting, from big corporations destroying the environment to big government taxing. The first protest march was in 1932 when Icelanders were fighting for an 8-hour working day and 5-day working week. Thousands of Icelander's march from Hlemmur bus station in downtown Reykjavík, and down the main street Laugavegur.
