The Viking Festival has been around the last 20 years in June, held at Víðistaðatún in Hafnafjörður. This festival is the oldest and largest event of his kind in Iceland and aims to demonstrate most aspects of Viking culture and traditions such as ships, handcrafts, storytelling, archery, games, music and of course, a battle reenactments that is the main attraction for most people. Do not fear as the participants do stage mock fights and battles throughout the festival. It is organized in the area surrounding Viking Village, a Viking-themed hotel and restaurant, you will also find a market selling Viking-inspired goodies.
