Golden Circle & Rafting
The Golden Circle
This incredible tour combines adventure and sightseeing into one amazing package that everyone is sure to enjoy. It begins with a visit to the iconic Golden Circle area, home to the Geysir geothermal area, renowned for its bubbling hot springs that throw molten torrents of water up to 25 meters into the air. Then there is Gullfoss (the golden waterfall), a magnificent three-stage waterfall, whose idyllic setting and seemingly golden waters have made it one of the most popular spots in the entire of Iceland. Followed by a visit to Thingvellir National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, which straddles the North American and European tectonic plates. It is also home to Althingi, site of the original Viking parliament, the oldest still operational parliament in the world. Alongside a host of geological wonders too numerous to detail here. It is a spectacular place, which every visitor to Iceland should see.
Then we will travel to the Hvita river (white river), which perfectly blends pulsating white crested rapids and serene canyons, a truly incredible experience, which vaults between the sublime and the fun. Whale Watching & the Blue Lagoon
This consists of two contrasting activities, beginning with an exciting whale watching trip, where you may see: Minke whales, Humpback whales, Dolphins, and Porpoises. Our marine experts do all they can to ensure that you will see whales during the tour, providing plenty of useful information along the way. Although it is important to note that weather and sea conditions play a huge role in how many whales we will see. We take everything into account when we plan these tours and will always aim to put you in the best position possible to see these magnificent creatures. Warm clothing is essential as it can get cold out at sea (even on warm summer days), with the option to watch the whales from the inside an option too. Each trip takes about 2.5 – 3.5 hours and is an unmissable chance to see some of the planet’s most incredible animals in the flesh.
From there we will leave you in Reykjavik to have some lunch, before transporting you to the nutrient-rich waters of the Blue Lagoon: nature’s finest spa.
Please note that the pick-up time for the Blue Lagoon can vary subject to the availability of the lagoon itself. We always do our best to make the tour times as convenient for you as possible, but the varying nature of the whale watching tour means that nothing is guaranteed.

The Solheimajokull glacier is a crevice-ridden wilderness which is constantly evolving, replete with an ever-changing wonderland of rugged rock sculptures, beautiful ice figurines, and deep crevices. On our way back to Reykjavik we will make a brief stop at the majestic Skogafoss waterfall, where a cascading stream of water, crashes down 60 meters into a clear blue pool beneath it. Following that, we will return to the capital, where the action-packed day ends.
Day two begins bright and early, at 8 am, with pick up from your Reykjavik accommodation. (Please note that this process can last up to thirty minutes, depending on where you are). From there we will head to the famous Golden Circle area, which is home to some of Iceland’s most iconic sights.
The first stop will be the Gullfoss waterfall (e. Golden Falls), a breathtakingly powerful, and stunningly beautiful waterfall. It is a magnificent sight: as the cascading water leaps of the edge, set to a luscious green background: a wondrous sight, which everyone is sure to enjoy. Gullfoss gets its name from the golden hue that its water takes on a summer’s day, with rainbows also common: it is a majestic sight that will remain with you for the rest of your life.
After Gullfoss, we will travel to the Geysir geothermal area, home to a large number of bubbling geysers. Foremost of these is Strokkur a bubbling, seething hot spring, which violently throws streams of boiling water into the air every 5 to 10 minutes. You will also see the larger Geysir, which gives all geysers their English name.
After that, we will travel to Thingvellir National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, which is both historically and geologically important. In it is the site of Althingi, where a group of nobles met in 930 AD, making it the oldest continuously running parliament that is still in operation in the world. It is also filled to the brim with geological wonders, including the gap between the European and North American tectonic plates, which runs right through its heart, and means that visitors can gaze across the gap between two continents. There are also an array of beautiful lagoons, glacial rivers, and gorgeous rock sculptures, ensuring that Thingvellir is a sensual feast.
Then we will journey to Drumbo, where our exhilarating rafting adventure on the Hvita river (the white river) will take place. Rafting is the perfect blend of heart-pounding, adrenaline-pumping fun, and tranquil moments, which are set to a gorgeous natural backdrop. Once we reach the majestic Brúarhlöð Canyon, you will have the chance to leap off the side of the cliff, into the rushing white-crested waters below, an exhilarating activity, which adventurous people are sure to enjoy. Then once the tour is over, we will return to Reykjavik.
Please note that to participate in the whale watching tour, you must arrive at Old Reykjavik Harbour, at least thirty minutes before your whale watching tour is scheduled to depart. Pick up & departure times will vary according to the season and will be confirmed by one of our agents closer to the time.
The day begins with a magnificent whale watching trip, on the deep blue waters of the Atlantic Ocean. Seeing the majestic gentle, giants of the deep, frolicking in the waves, is a truly incredible experience, which will give you a profound sense of just how powerful nature is. We always seek to go to the places where whale sightings are most likely, be they near the coastline, or up to 15 km offshore. It is imperative that you wear warm clothes, as the weather can be cool out on the water. We also recommend sunglasses and sun cream, as the summer sun can sometimes be surprisingly strong. There are light snacks and hot drinks available on the boat.
Once you have returned to, we will meet you at one of the pick-up points and head to the Blue Lagoon: nature’s finest spa. The Blue Lagoon is an iconic place that combines nutrient-rich, milky turquoise waters, with black moss-covered rocks, to create a sensual feast. Its temperate waters are ideal for a relaxing soak, amidst a stunning natural scenery, which will excite and delight in equal measure. It is the finest naturally occurring spa in the country, which is famous for naturally occurring spas, making it a must visit for anyone who comes to Iceland.
Please note that this itinerary is not set in stone, and some of the days may be switched around, for example, you could start with Whale Watching and end with the Golden Circle & Rafting adventure.
