"The 3-Day tour with Extreme Iceland is the best deal! Overall, we found the whole trip was worth for money and the schedule is packed with variety of sight-seeing places."

3 Day Classic vs. 3 Day Bundle

Note that both version include ice caving, and they share almost all the same highlights except for a few key differences:

The Classic version is available from Oct - Apr. It includes a glacier hike and a stop at Fjadrargljufur Canyon, and you have the same guide and minibus the whole time. Two evenings of northern lights pursuit. The Secret Lagoon is not included.
The Bundle version combines two tours, and is available all year round.  First we do a two-day South Coast tour, and spend one night at a country hotel. In the evening of day two we go back to Reykjavik and spend one night there. On day three we do the Golden Circle and Secret Lagoon tour. Glacier hike and Fjadrargljufur are not included. One evening of northern lights pursuit.
Optional extra: Glacier lagoon boat tour (40 mins).

Accommodation - Classic Version: Two nights at a country hotel near Skaftafell in South Iceland. With private bathroom and breakfast.

Accommodation - Bundle Version: One night in Reykjavik, and one night at a country hotel in South Iceland (with breakfast). Choose between shared or private bathroom options.

Tour Description

For this 3-day South Coast tour, you can choose from two of our most popular packages: The 3-Day Classic or the 3-Day Bundle. While most of the attractions on these two options are similar, in a few ways they’re different! Read on to learn more about this exciting, epic itinerary!

Thingvellir National Park

Thingvellir National Park

The Golden Circle

The first stop on the Golden Circle route is at Thingvellir National Park. Thingvellir was the first place in Iceland to be made a UNESCO World Heritage Site, due to its historical and geological importance. The valley was once home to the Althingi, the oldest parliament in the world, first founded in 930 c.e.

Thingvellir is also the only place in the world where you can walk between two continental plates, from Europe to North America. Its location, on a seismic hotspot, has dramatically enhanced its beauty and we’ll see fascinating rock formations, vast lava fields, sapphire blue waterfalls and much, much more.

Our journey will continue to the Geysir Geothermal area – known for its many erupting geysers and bubbling fumaroles. The most famous, Strokkur, erupts every 5-7 minutes, propelling clouds of steam up to 30 meters into the air. The geysers here helped to launch Icelandic tourism and have been synonymous with the country ever since.

Our final stop on the Golden Circle is Gullfoss – a magnificent two-step waterfall that originates at the Langjökull glacier. Its name comes from the golden spray from the falls as it cascades over the brown lava rock. Be sure to bring a camera because you’ll definitely want to immortalize the scene!

The bundle version additionally includes a stop at the Secret Lagoon, see more info here below.

secret lagoon geothermal

The Secret Lagoon - Geothermal bathing site (Bundle version only)

Secret Lagoon (Bundle Version only)

Jumping back in the minibus we will take you through gentle rural landscapes to Flúðir, a charming village surrounded by geothermal activities. The Secret Lagoon is located on the edge of the village by a forest, this is one of the most serenely beautiful places in Iceland. The large lagoon, filled with natural geothermal water, is secluded in the midst of nature, bathe in the wonderfully warm water, enjoy a drink at the café, or explore the paths around the pool to see the gurgling hot springs and a small geyser.

Seljalandsfoss & Skogafoss

seljalandsfoss waterfall south coast

Seljalandsfoss Waterfall on the South Coast

On the South Coast is the white, timeless Seljalandsfoss Waterfall. These cascades tumbles down 60 meters into a gorge below. In good weather, you can walk behind it, leading to some fantastic shots of every angle. Next is the nearby Skógafoss waterfall – a place of myth and legend that plays a vital role in the Icelandic sagas. Once upon a time, a passing troll was so enchanted by the beauty of the waterfall that he forgot about the approaching dawn. As the sun rose, it transformed him into stone. To this day, you can still see the troll’s faces in the rock formations that overlook the falls.

Vik & Northern Lights

The northern lights and jewels on the Diamond Beach

The hotel just outside of Vik is a perfect base to pursue the Northern Lights. Hopefully, the skies will be clear and the ethereal colors of the Northern Lights will illuminate the heavens – a bucket-list experience that will inspire awe and wonder in equal measure.

Classic tour offers 2 nights of Northern Lights pursuit, the 3-Day Bundle includes 1 night. Note the northern lights are only visible from Sept - April (not during summer).

Reynisfjara Black Sand Beach

At a black sand beach called Reynisfjara

Reynisfjara, a black sand beach that overlooks the Atlantic Ocean. To one side towers a cluster of basalt columns, like tubes of a gigantic stone organ buried within the hills. Just offshore, the dramatic Reynisdrangar basalt pillars rise like mighty turrets out of the sea.

Jokulsarlon and Diamond Beach

jokulsarlon glacier lagoon

Floating icebergs at Jökulsárlón Glacier Lagoon

Jökulsárlón Glacier Lagoon is famous for its blue icebergs, which break away the Breiðamerkurjökull Glacier and float out to the Atlantic Ocean in a spellbinding display of remarkable beauty. The lagoon also hosts a playful seal population that swims in between the icebergs. Some of the icebergs wash up on the aptly named Diamond Beach, where they sit like glittering jewels on its dark volcanic sands. Jökulsárlón and the Diamond Beach are truly magical places and we thoroughly recommend bringing a camera – because we guarantee that you’ll take amazing photos

Ice Caving Experience

crystal ice cave

Crystal ice cave with blue ice

Each ice cave only lasts for a year and is totally unique, meaning that we can’t tell you exactly what we will be seeing. However, they are usually incredibly beautiful, thanks to the gorgeous patterns that the meltwaters have carved into the ice. The age of the ice in a glacier affects its color, so the older the ice, the bluer it will be. As both the ice caves and the icebergs at Jökulsárlón contain deep layers of ancient ice, they are often exquisitely blue.

Why do ice caves have blue ice?

The age of the ice in a glacier affects its color, so the older the ice, the bluer it will be.

When snow falls on a glacier, it traps air that is gradually compressed and forced downward as it travels deeper into the glacier. This causes the size of the ice crystals to increase, making them bluer and bluer.

As both the ice caves and the icebergs at Jökulsárlón contain deep layers of ancient ice, they are often exquisitely blue.

Skaftafell Wilderness Area

glacier hike skaftafell

Glacier hiking in Skaftafell Nature Reserve (Classic version only)

We will stop at Skaftafell Wilderness Area, part of Vatnajokull National Park. This is one of the most beautiful locations in Iceland, with a glacier view, mountain view and you can even see the ocean. You will have great photo opportunities here.

Glacier hike (Classic version only)

We’ll do a glacier hike in Skaftafell. You won’t need to be especially fit for the hike, but we strongly recommend that you dress in warm clothing. We’ll supply you with crampons and axes, and a qualified glacier guide who will be there to guarantee our safety.

Hiking on a glacier is an incredible experience – a vast expanse of pristine snow, dotted with interesting rock and ice formations. We’ll hear the creaking and crunching of the ice as it sways beneath our feet, take in beautiful panoramas over the rest of the Skaftafell Nature Reserve and learn more about how glaciers have helped to shape our world.

Fjadrargljufur Canyon (Classic Version only)

We’ll also stop at the Fjaðrárgljúfur Canyon, whose vivid blue glacial river offers a stark contrast to mossy lava rock. Fjaðrárgljúfur is incredibly photogenic and we guarantee that you’ll capture some unforgettable moments. Be aware that on some days, we may not be able to stop at Fjaðrárgljúfur, as the ecosystem is very fragile and subject to occasional closure.

This canyon became famous after Justin Bieber featured it in one of his music videos.

We’ll climb the winding steps that lead to its summit and enjoy a spectacular view of the Eyjafjallajökull glacier, rising on the horizon behind the falls. Locals also believe that one of the first Viking settlers buried treasure somewhere in the area – perhaps, we’ll get lucky and find it!

The final stop of the day is Reynisfjara, a black sand beach that overlooks the Atlantic Ocean. To one side towers a cluster of basalt columns, like tubes of a gigantic stone organ buried within the hills. Just offshore, the dramatic Reynisdrangar basalt pillars rise like mighty turrets out of the sea.

We’ll stay in a charming country hotel on the other side of Vik. Hopefully, the skies will be clear and the ethereal colors of the Northern Lights will illuminate the heavens – a bucket-list experience that will inspire awe and wonder in equal measure.

Day 2 - Sightseeing & Ice Cave

Day two will take us across a volcanically scarred landscape dotted with glaciers, epitomizing Iceland’s nickname, the land of fire and ice. We’ll start by crossing the moss-carpeted Eldhraun lava field, an ominous monument to the largest lava flow in recorded history. Our friendly guide will tell us fascinating facts about this dramatic event and point out the icy glacial rivers and vast sand plains that were carved out by massive glacial floods.

If the weather holds, we’ll get out of the super jeep and hike to the glacier on foot. If it’s raining, but, if that is not possible then we will continue in the car. Our guide is a local expert and will make a decision based on the conditions at the time.

Each ice cave only lasts for a year and is totally unique, meaning that we can’t tell you exactly what we will be seeing. However, they are usually incredibly beautiful, thanks to the gorgeous patterns that the meltwaters have carved into the ice.

Our next stop will be the Jökulsárlón Glacier Lagoon. Jökulsárlón is famous for its blue icebergs, which break away the Breiðamerkurjökull Glacier and float out to the Atlantic Ocean in a spellbinding display of remarkable beauty. The lagoon also hosts a playful seal population that swims in between the icebergs.

Some of the icebergs wash up on the aptly named Diamond Beach, where they sit like glittering jewels on its dark volcanic sands. Jökulsárlón and the Diamond Beach are truly magical places and we thoroughly recommend bringing a camera – because we guarantee that you’ll take amazing photos.

We’ll spend the evening in a traditional countryside hotel – keeping an eye out for the Northern Lights again.

Day 3 - Skaftafell Glacier Hike & Sightseeing

Hiking on a glacier is an incredible experience – a vast expanse of pristine snow, dotted with interesting rock and ice formations. We’ll hear the creaking and crunching of the ice as it sways beneath our feet, take in beautiful panoramas over the rest of the Skaftafell Nature Reserve and learn more about how glaciers have helped to shape our world.

Be aware that on some days, we may not be able to stop at Fjaðrárgljúfur, as the ecosystem is very fragile and subject to occasional closure.

We’ll then drive back to Reykjavik, arriving between 17-19:00 (5-7 p.m.) after a magical three days in the land of fire and ice.

Day 1 - The South Coast

We pick you up nice and early to see some of the most amazing natural wonders in Iceland. Along the way there will, in clear visibility, be views of Hekla, in the Middle Ages this particular stratovolcano was known as ‘The Gateway to Hell’. Today, we should also be blessed with views of another legendary volcano, the unforgettable Eyjafjallajökull!

Our first stop is at Seljalandsfoss Waterfall, these graceful 60 m high falls are very unusual, we suggest you put on your rainwear before exploring further because there will be some spray! Walking the pathway which goes behind the cascade is something we highly recommend, you will get a unique view and an incredible photo opportunity if you are up for this adventure. If you don´t want to, there is still plenty to see, though! We don´t need to travel many kilometers to get to our next destination, another magnificent 60 m high cascade, Skógafoss Waterfall. On a fine day, at either of these waterfalls, you will often see rainbows around their tumbling torrents, adding another layer of magic to these fairytale vistas. Skógafoss falls from the old sea cliffs, it is easy to see the line of the old coastline here.

A visit to Reynisfjara, a stunning black beach is next on the agenda. The natural wonders to be found at this beach are very famous, including a fabulous cave with very rare basalt columnar formations - people love to be photographed in the cave. Just off the coast, you will see astonishing troll-like basalt forms, which lurk above the ocean waves like mysterious giant figurines. Walk along the soft black sand and enjoy exploring but do not stand too close, those awesome waves are powerful, they can, unexpectedly, roar higher up the beach. Standing back you will get a fabulous panoramic view of the silver tipped Atlantic waves washing onto the beach.  We stop for lunch at Vík, the southernmost village in Iceland, which is well known for its charming church.

The afternoon part of this tour will take you through the kind of scenery you have, very likely, never seen before - crafted by the powerful volcanoes and floods from the vast icecaps which shroud them. Your accommodation will be in the countryside, ideal in winter to watch the northern lights if the conditions are suitable - perfect, also, to enjoy the bright lights of summer!

Day 2 - Jokulsarlon Glacier Lagoon & Ice Caving

This is the glacier day! Your first stop is at the otherworldly Jökulsárlón Glacier Lagoon. This lagoon, at the edge of the rapidly retreating Breiðamerkurjökull Glacier, has to be seen to be believed. Seeing photographs and film footage is fabulous but it falls far short of actually being there! You have, very likely, seen this place in James Bond movies, documentaries or Games of Thrones scenes, but now you get to experience this place for real! You will see clusters of huge and creatively shaped icebergs floating in the lagoon, many display surprisingly deep shades of blue, ash layers from former volcanic eruptions have also been encapsulated within some of these icy beauties.

In summer it is possible to enjoy a boat trip on the lagoon, taking you within touching distance of the ancient ice. The trip sells out quickly, so you are advised to arrange the boat trip when you book your tour (extra fee payable). Sooner or later the icebergs will arrive at the nearby ocean, the tidal currents wash a few up onto the Diamond Beach at Jökulsárlón, the sight of these crystalline glistening beauties sitting on rough black volcanic sand is breathtaking. Make sure you have plenty of camera battery!

Continuing the glacier theme for the day, next up is the icing on the cake, a journey into a natural ice cave. Accompanied by a certified glacier guide, you will witness incredible formations created by mother nature, as your guide will be sharing interesting facts about the ice cave and explaining to you how they are formed. The blue ice offers great photo opportunities. Usually, we visit the Crystal Ice Cave in Breiðamerkurjökull, a glacial tongue of Vatnajökull. As the ice caves are a natural phenomenon we sometimes have to choose a different ice cave, your guide will choose the cave in the best conditions at the time. Exploring a natural ice cave is certainly a once in a lifetime experience that will not be forgotten.

We will drive you to your accommodation for the night. Your hotel will be in Reykjavík.

Day 3 - The Golden Circle & Secret Lagoon

Today you will see the most popular sights in Iceland, the three magnificent Golden Circle attractions! The scenery along the whole of this great route is beautiful, you will pass through picturesque villages, little towns, attractive countryside, and mountain views. Your guide will share some local history and fun stories on your way to the first attraction.

The amazing history and incredible geological features at Þingvellir National Park (Thingvellir) were recognized by UNESCO when this stunning place was listed as a World Heritage Site. The geology of Þingvellir is remarkable because the Eurasian and North American continental plates have moved apart here, creating a rift valley, it was this rifting movement which formed the dramatic cliff of the Almannagjá gorge. The tectonic plates continue to separate by around 2 cm (¾ in) per year. You will see the beautiful lake, called Þingvallavatn, and Peningagjá, which means ‘the Money Gorge’. The Icelandic Parliament, the Alþing, was formulated in the year 930 AD at Þingvellir. This national government is, today, the oldest still operating democratic parliament in the world - quite an incredible achievement!

From the power of governance to the power of the glacial Hvítá River and the splendor of Gullfoss Waterfall! This thundering river pours through the dramatic canyon, dropping 32 m in two stages, the torrent pivots a little before disappearing from view as it descends into a massive crevasse. This waterfall brings a powerful reminder of the vastness and the strong forces at work within Icelandic nature. Gullfoss means ‘Golden Falls’, the golden-toned spray which can be seen around the falls, very likely, inspired the name. A journey of a few kilometers will bring us to the Geysir geothermal area, home to the world-famous Great Geysir, which is not active now. Luckily, a nearby geyser, Strokkur, erupts very obediently, blasting superheated water and steam up to 40 m high every few minutes. Standing in anticipation is always exciting, most people get a feeling for the moment when Strokkur is primed and ready for action!

We will arrive back in Reykjavík at approximately 18:00.

Our guide ash was awesome. And athor on the glacier was great. We love these guys. They make Iceland.

Diddy was great

5 by Verified customer 2017-02-24
Both tours were fantastic!!! Diddy was a great tour guide for our private tour and we had a wonderful experience. Diddy gave us an awesome Glacier hike which made us extremely happy. Our small group super jeep tour to Landmannagluer was great. Atli is a fabulous driver and we always felt completely safe is his hands. We loved the variety of this tour and going to ""extreme"" places. We enjoyed moving to the a different hut the 2nd night so we got to do and see different things. We loved the snowmobiling. We were glad it turned out to be more ""active"" than originally planned. I don't think I would have enjoyed it as much if we were just ""relaxing"" in the first hut most of the time. I wanted an ""action-packed"" extreme tour. And after a week looking at the clouds in the night skies, we finally saw the Northern Lights on the very last night. It was so nice that Arni took photos so we could remember it as our cameras didn't have longer exposure times. Great time was had by all.

Very good

It was a very good tour!!

Good Iceland tour

Tour guide was excellent, David took us to some amazing places because we weren't able to do the Ice Caving. Very happy overall.

Above & Beyond

5 by Verified customer 2017-02-27
Egill was extremely knowledgeable, accommodating, kind and funny. He is an excellent tour guide for a beautiful country! He went above and beyond our expectations and we would love to return for another tour someday! We will definitely recommend Extreme Iceland to our friends here in the US

Great 3 day tour

5 by Verified customer 2017-03-03
Magnus was a fantastic guide - so entertaining and great dark humour. We really enjoyed the stories and information on the landscape and the extra stops that we had. I would not hesitate to recommend Extreme Iceland to visitors hoping to cover a lot of ground and experiences in a fun and well organised way.

Guide made the tour!

5 by Verified customer 2017-03-03
Our driver / guide 'Pablo' was excellent. He made every effort for us to get the maximum out of the tour. He conscientiously organised our days so we saw and experienced every aspect possible. He's what made the tour the successful holiday it was for us. Many many thanks indeed. Kind regards, Anita & Steve Wainwright (Lincoln UK) (Another friend of ours has already booked on our recommendation.)

Definitely recommend

5 by Verified customer 2017-03-03
Ricky was an amazing guide. He was fun but also kept us safe despite the winter storm watch. We were lucky to have a lot things to right with the ice cave and glacier, but Ricky also planned things in a logical way and made sure we could hit every spot in the tour possible at some point. He even helped us point out the northern lights, which me and my husband were able to see even clearer later that night (the only clear night we were in Iceland). For the ice cave and the glacier we also had exceptional and knowledgeable guides and we always felt that safety was the number one priority (including wearing helmets when other companies didn't, something I'd rather do to be safe than sorry!) Overall the tour was amazing, safe, and professional. Our accommodations both nights were even better than our hotel in Reykjavik and the food was amazing. We will definitely recommend this tour and Ricky especially to anyone going to Iceland especiallly in the winter.

Excellent

We cannot thank our driver and guide Siggi enough, he was so knowledgeable, considerate, and professional with an attention to detail. Thank your company so much for showing us a beautiful Iceland. We are extremely grateful that we chose to travel with you and we will recommend your company to all our family and friends!

Siggy is awesome!!

Our guide Siggy was perhaps the most interesting and knowledgeable person we have ever me. He made the trip by far. His constant information, spirit and humor made us fall in love with Iceland and it's people. We hope to come back many times in the future. Thank you Siggy.

Wonderful

Our tour guide Hawk was brilliant. He had great knowledge of the country and kept us updated with facts during the tour. He helped make our first trip to Iceland an unforgettable experience. Unfortunately we didn't get to see the northern lights, but he tried his best to look out for them and continually checked the forecasts. Hopefully we will return to Iceland and see them next time. Overall, wonderful trip thanks to extreme Iceland.

When weather interrupted our itinerary, he adapted and moved things around so we had a full and great trip.

Our tour guide Adolf was excellent.

5 by Jennie Braun 2018-01-28
He was very knowledgeable about Iceland's history and culture. He was also extremely flexible and was able to make the most out of each day given the temperamental weather conditions. We would definitely do another excursion with him in the future.

The most magical adventure I've had thus far!

5 by Alex 2018-10-16
I've traveled a lot in my life so far and plan to continue. But this tour in particular has inspired me to take more adventurous types of trips while I'm young! It was the most amazing experience and Norris was awesome! He knows everything there is to know about Iceland and he's great at helping you pronounce Icelandic words too! I would totally do another multiday tour with Extreme Iceland. It was truly the best money I've ever spent!

I joined a 3-day tour for Jökulsárlón.This tour is amazing! Our guide is nice. All I want to see in Iceland, this tour covers all! I love Iceland, I’ll definitely visit this beautiful country in the future.

Nice Tour Guide

No wonder why every stop was quite rush as the itinerary is quite full with lots of worth going spots in Iceland. Every places were so beautiful which makes you want to stay longer to enjoy and view and take enough amount of nice shots. The tour is worth joining especially for people who comes to Iceland for their first time with loads of interested places to go but no way to make through and planned by themselves. Our tour guide Emily was a great one, being always energetic, and full of exploration experience to share with us her adventures in Iceland, and knowledgeable to share all the histories, myths, beliefs, and all other things about Iceland to us. It was a nice experience to be with her for the whole tour. Would definitely recommend friends to consider joining this tour for their Iceland trip

3 day South coast

Views were spectacular! Thoroughly enjoyed the trip. I only wish we weren't rushed through the locations so quickly. Usually only got to spend 25-30 minutes at each location after hours of driving. Still incredible.

Great Experience!

We joined the 3 Day - Golden Circle, South Coast, Jökulsárlón & Ice Cave tour in October. Every place visited were great experience to us. The guide was very professional and funny. He gave us many information around Iceland during the trip. Due the very strong wind, the glacier hiking was cancelled. And also because of cloudy weather, the northern light was unable to see. Beside these, the ice caving was wonderful! It was really stunning! We really miss this after the trip. Other place like "Foss", Geysir, black beach, glacier lagoon etc were also lovely! However, each place have around 30-45min to enjoy which were a bit short for photographing lover. Overall, the tour was really great and i would definitely join next time! Thanks!

3 Day Golden Circle South Coast Tour

This tour was a great sample of the amazing sights that Iceland had to offer. Our tour guide Diddi was extremely knowledgeable and gave us a running commentary during the long drives which made it seem shorter. All the stops were timed very well that gave us enough time to walk around and explore the sights without feeling rushed. The glacier hike was the definitely the highlight of the tour. The one let down was the ice cave which was very dissapointing. This was prob only 20m long and very brief just walk in and out and not like the big ones shown on the pictures. The journey there on the 4WD was certainly fun though. All in all I think this a good value starter tour to get a nice taste of what Iceland had to offer and I would definitely come back!

Excellent tour with brilliant guide

We did a three day tour of the golden circle and south coast with extreme Iceland and it was absolutely fantastic. The tour was a great balance of packing a lot in and seeing a lot of the beautiful country without it feeling too rushed. Our tour guide, Holly, was brilliant! She had great knowledge and her love for Iceland came through. She added touches to the tour and adapted it for the group. Have already recommended the tour to several friends. The weather being beautiful made it even better.... something we know not everyone experiences when visiting Iceland!

Personal view

Hi Just like to say the tour started off badly. On my form we were told to meet at bus stop 10 for pick up at 8 am and could be up to half an hour. However the van did nor arrive till 950 thus we had to stand in the cold for nearly 2 hours. The driver/ guide said that the pick up was from 9. We rang the office at 910 but they were dismissive saying we could either wait or do something else. And stated that pick up was from 9. Even though my documentation said 8. The guide made a note and said he would follow it up but no feedback to date. The trip however was superb.Well organise and on time and disciplined and the places we went to were a good mix of things to see and do. Loved it. Places we stayed were clean and basic . The bus even though modern was a bit cramp between seats - try it yourself and I and not a big guy.

Comprehensive view of Iceland

5 by Sarah 2018-11-14
I would highly recommend this tour! It was nice to relax on the bus and put the stress of planning a vacation in the hands of Icelandic professionals. The transportation and hotels for accommodation was comfortable. We hit all the must see locations on the southern coast, and our guide even pulled aside to see a few extra! Alvaro was a great guide! He has lived in Iceland for 8 years and is very knowledgable. Would be nice to hire additional Icelandic natives though!

Great Tour and Experience

This is a great tour for someone that has limited time and wants to experience some of the best there is in Iceland. We enjoyed every stop, the accommodations were excellent, our tour guide (Zaho) was awesome, and the food was great. I am really happy with our choice and can’t wait to be back in Iceland !!!

I think it’s great 3 days trip. Overall is good. I love it. I go during winter season with short time of day light, the guide can help to manage time to get us through all the places (just sad that each place , we can get a short time to explore but I understand ) I think it’s worth value for money!

Amazing Tour!

5 by Kristina 2018-12-17
My boyfriend and I booked this trip and weren't sure what to expect, but we were blown away! We had a short amount of time to do everything. We booked a tour in November, which only gave us a little over 5 hours of daylight in which to see everything. But we were able to do it all. The golden circle, the super jeep on the glacier to the ice cave, hiking ON a glacier! It was all amazing. Our tour guide, Johann (not sure I'm spelling that right) was awesome, too. He was very informative and super funny. My only criticism would be that it was unclear to me via the booking that Extreme Island and Arctic Adventures are the same, so the bus picking you up will probably say Arctic Adventures and not ""Extreme Iceland."" I was so worried that we had missed our bus for pickup (fortunately, we hadn't). Otherwise, everything was great from sights to tour guide to accommodation. I would HIGHLY recommend booking a tour with Extreme Iceland. Unless you're a pro level mountaineer, you'll get to see sights that you never dreamed you would. 10/10, would book with Extreme Iceland again

Great tour

"We had an action packed 3-day tour. We got to experience all of the itineraries and so much more! Accommodation and places we stopped for food were fabulous. Our tour guide was great when one on one or at locations but he talked continuously in the van (literally from the start of the tour to the end - the entire time in the van he talked). This was annoying. Also, it meant that you tuned him out and would often miss relevant information. Also, we started the glacier walk very late which meant we did not get back to Reykjavik until about 11.30pm"

"Our guide Jonas was the best! He was very organized and took really good care of us. He shared a lot of folklore and stories during the trip. I learned a lot from him. The tour was great! It gives us an ample amount if the time to spend in each location. I did not feel rushed at all. Also, there were extra spots we went to that were not part of the tour. Will definitely recommend this trip and extreme Iceland!"

Beyond My Expectations

We had the most amazing time on our 3 day South Coast tour with Extreme Iceland. Every day was packed with beauty and exciting adventures - glacier hiking, ice caving, waterfalls - and the pace was perfect. I wasn't sure what to expect and was a bit nervous about committing to 3 days on the road - but couldn't have been happier with the outcome It was time and money well spent. I felt like in 3 days we got a great introduction to this magical island and walked away with photos and memories to last a lifetime. One of the main reasons it was so great was our guide Sven. Sven was the best! He obviously loves his country - he is a larger than life character - and his energy and spirit made it a great journey. He was super fun, very informative and dedicated to ensuring everyone had a great time on the trip.

I've traveled a lot in my life so far and plan to continue. But this tour, in particular, has inspired me to take more adventurous types of trips while I'm young! It was the most amazing experience and Norris was awesome! He knows everything there is to know about Iceland and he's great at helping you pronounce Icelandic words too! I would totally do another multiday tour with Extreme Iceland. It was truly the best money I've ever spent!

Perfect

We just got back from the 3 day ice caving and glacier tour. I can’t say enough good things about this tour! Our guide Adolf was so knowledgeable and made the tour enjoyable. The scenery was incredible and the tour was perfectly paced. Perfect way for us to explore the south coast.

3 Day - Golden Circle, South Coast, Jökulsárlón & Ice Cave adventure tour

5 by Mike D. 2018-12-18
I recently went on a 3 Day tour of Iceland in early December. This was my first experience to Iceland and I thoroughly enjoyed all aspects of the tour. Our main tour guide Pascal was exceptional and greatly enhanced our experience with several interesting stories on the history and folklore of Iceland. The Ice Caves and Glacier hiking was magnificent. Our ice caves guide Tryggui was very funny, entertaining and outstanding. This tour is highly recommended!!!

Great adventure!

This tour was fantastic and the perfect way to see the highlights of Iceland when you only have a few days! I just wish we could have spent a bit more time at the ice caves. Still recommend this tour!

"We toook the 3 Day - Golden Circle, South Coast, Jökulsárlón & Ice Cave. It was a great experience, the guide would explain us several things about the places we were visiting, however, more explanation on some places would have been awesome, sometimes the guide woould only drive us to the place and tell us where to walk with no further explanation. The tour also mentioned that seeking northern lights was part of the tour, we didn't do that, the guide would just tell some of us to step outside of our rooms at a certain time and there was a chance of seeing something, for me it was the first time seeing northern lights and didn't actuallly know how they would look like in plain sight, such a pity! I would have loved someone to tell me more on how the lookd so I could make the most of my experience. Finally, I have to acknowledge that our guide was versatile and looking forward for us to making the most of the tour: there was an accident in the highway that would not allow us to travel to the ice cave, so the guide took us to a beach and arranged for us to visit another cave. Overall it was a great experience and would recommend it."

Excellent 3 Day Winter Tour

"I'm Japanese, but live in UK. I Joined 3 Day Tour including Ice caving. I was worried about whether I could understand the tour guide's talk or not. But our tour guide Sigi spoke very clearly and talked about many interesting things about People, Agriculture and History of Iceland. And I was also worried about the sun light because I joined the tour in last week of December. (the hours of sunlight were about 5 hours in Iceland during the season) But our tour guide Sigi drove the car safely and quickly and showed us to the Tour spot during the daylight. So I was so impressed by waterfalls, Golden circle, Ice caving, and glacier. the only unfortunate thing was we couldn't do ""Glacier hike"" because of the bad weather. Is it possible to request the cancellation refund of the ""Glacier Hike""? Anyway I was so satisfied with this tour and thanks so much Sigi !!!!"

Awesome experience

We went on this tour with our 15 year old daughter and we all loved it! Everything was so much fun. We went ice caving and walking on a glacier. We went in 2 different ice caves. It was beautiful and such an adventure. We saw black beaches, geysers and beautiful waterfalls. All of the tour guides were awesome. Extremely accommodating and informative! The bus carried 17 of us very comfortably. The hotel was really nice and the food was awesome. I can't say enough good things about the 3 day Extreme Iceland tour. Would definitely recommend!

Loved the trip

5 by Kelsey Watts 2019-01-10
Unfortunately my brother was not able to get into Iceland because of the 90 day visa thing. And this company wouldn’t do a refun even though we weren’t aware that our third member wasn’t going to be able to come. That being said we loved the trip. Our guide Svenni took us everywhere at exactly the right time. We were able to see everything listed and do all of the excursions without a problem. It was a great time. Loved the small group buses. That made it so much more because we got to know everyone on the trip. Would definitely recommend this place to people who knew for sure they were going on the trip. Since the refund is impossible to get back I would say hold off booking if you’re not certain of going.

Highly recommended tour

"We had a wonderful experience on this 3 days tour. Diddi our guide was very knowledgeable and friendly, great sense of humor. On this tour we did a lot of busing around and saw incredible sights. We got to go on top of glaciers, inside ice caves, walked on the black sand beaches. All the stops we made had facilities, we had chance to get food and drinks. It helped a lot to have snacks with us."

Great tour

4 by Ellen 2019-01-11
Sven did an awesome job taking us to the beautiful sites. Loved the ice caves and glaciers, waterfalls and beaches . He really cared and kept us safe. I found the glacier hike harder then the rating of easy hike, perhaps my fault for not assessing it more beforehand. Every else was perfect.

Great tour!

5 by Chris 2019-01-14
We had the pleasure to have Olafur as our guide for the 3 days south coast / glacier tour. It was well organised and didn’t feel rushed. We were lucky to have good weather for January and our guide made the best out of daylight. I recommend this tour.

Fantastic tour! Kata was lovely, informative, helpful, warm, and has great stories/history. We did things we never would have done on our own. I do think the glacier hike was a bit more laborious than the website says, but totally worth it and beautiful. I'm recommending this tour to anyone going to Iceland and would totally take another one next time I visit. Literally everyone we spoke with was wonderful...especially Kata!

"Sindri is a nice and funny tour guide, he shared a lot about Iceland and made our journey a lot more interesting. The only disappointing thing about the tour is the Ice Cave- we didn’t know we were not going to the real “BLUE ICE CAVE” until we were in the normal ice cave. Overall it’s a very good experience in Iceland. Thanks."

Wonderful Trip

"We booked the 3 day tour with extreme iceland. Our tour guide Sindri is amazing! He was super knowledgable and shared so much information about Iceland with us! He definitely made our trip! He even went out of his way to make sure our friends who were on the same tour travelled on the same bus as us. We loved the tour! Extreme Iceland was very responsive to my inquiries and we were picked up for the tour within the time slot they advised. The accommodations at each night were clean and comfortable. I highly recommend this tour!! When we return, we will definitely book again with Extreme Iceland! Thanks so much for an amazing trip!!!"

What better way to explore Iceland than with a true Icelandic guide!

5 by Ryan Kay 2019-03-01
"I was tempted to rent a car and just explore Iceland, but I am so so glad I booked this tour! It was so comforting not worrying about where to drive to next, worry about the weather/roads, or what time to go on tours. We saw so much on our 3 day tour and were just amazed at the true beauty of Iceland. Our guide was simply amazing, and his passion for turning us into adventures in his homeland was unparalleled. Audunn Bjorn Larusson aka ""Tony"" is highly recommended and 3 days with him will never get boring! PS...the reason people never list all the spots they visit on these tours is because the Icelandic names are very complicated to say, let alone spell! Thanks again!"

Do it! It’s worth it!!

5 by Anne Frazee 2019-03-08
We did the 3 Day - Golden Circle, South Coast, Jökulsárlón & Ice Cave tour. The price was a bit expensive, but it took the thinking out of sightseeing/planning and was definitely well worth it! Ricky was our tour guide. He was pleasant and gave great tips. The hotel accommodation we stayed in for two nights was nice and was out in the country area. The hotel had one restaurant. Dinner was tasty (you pay for) and breakfast (included in the package) is better than your average continental style spread. The hotel was a great location to see the Northern Lights, which we were very blessed to have seen and experience!! The minivan was cozy and comfortable (no bathroom in it). There was a Thule style trailer that held our luggage. We did quite a bit of long drives, but made stops where they had clean restrooms and you can buy some food/snacks. We did not know what driving conditions would be when we went (February) and have never been. Having someone drive you and knowledgeable of the place made it feel more safe, relaxing and fun. If you have the time and money, I would recommend Extreme Iceland/Arctic Adventures! Thank you!

Great 3-day-tour

4 by Tommaso 2019-03-10
My girlfriend and I joined the 3-day-tour and we really enjoyed it! We got to see most of Iceland’s touristy sites and we were also lucky with the weather. Unfortunately, we were not able to see the Norrhern lights and our guide didn’t really bother driving us around as advertised on the website. We weren’t given many instructions either on morning meetings. However, overall we really liked the tour and we would recommend it!

Highly recommended

Our tour guide Biggi was amazing, very informative and fun. Two friends and I took this trip and did so many things and saw everything we wanted to see and more. The pictures don’t do it justice. Everything ran very smoothly. I can’t say enough good things about this tour, just that it was very well worth the money.

3 day tour

We did the 3 day south coast Jökulsárlón tour and it was incredible. I usually hate tours, but our tour guide, Biggi, was amazing. We had plenty of time at each stop, but he somehow got us everywhere promised plus extra stops. He was so knowledgeable about the country and made even the drive entertaining with all his knowledge. I felt I not only saw Iceland, but learned so much. I can not recommend this tour enough!

BEST TOUR!!!

If you are going to Iceland, whether on your own, as a couple or as a group, I HIGHLY recommend Arctic Adventures! Our your gude "Eagle" was amazing and being a native of Iceland, he was full of interesting and fun facts which he shared while we were driving. I booked my trip 5 days before I was to leave on a whim, and I was lucky enough to get on the 3 day Southern Gold Coast tour! Best way to travel alone for sure. The trip was flawless, saw tons of beautiful sites, the hotel was excellent and the food was delicious. You cannot go wrong with Arctic Adventure. And their correspondence with you before and after your trip was spot on. Don't miss a great adventure!!!

Extreme Iceland

5 by Jake Den Boer 2019-04-04
"Gummi was great! He took us to see some of the most beautiful places on the South Coast. He had no concern about staying on any certain time schedule or getting back to the hotel early giving everybody the time they needed to soak in any of the stops. He always offered to have lunch or dinner with us, and made sure to answer any question we had. The hotel was perfect, after a long day the beds were comfy, and the shower was warm and full of pressure. Also very clean. The dinners were filling, and fairly reasonably priced. The planned tour was exactly the right amount of things in a day to keep us busy and see everything the south coast of Iceland had to offer. Would love to do it again!"

Amazing 3 day tour!

5 by Abby 2019-04-09
The tour was nothing short of fantastic! Our guide was a very knowledgeable local whose family has been living in Iceland for over 400 years - so to say that he knew a lot about a lot of things is an understatement. Starting from history, geography of the terrain, anecdotes, current affairs you could ask him a question and he would tell you everything you wanted to know! He was very punctual and kept us on time given that we covered a lot of territory in three days, but gave us enough time to enjoy every stop before loading us back in the van and off to the next venue. Our hike on the Solheimajokull glacier was amazing - our guide there too was very knowledgeable and very caring making sure that we were all comfortable with the activity we were going to do and ensured everyone's safety. Our ice cave exploration was a memorable event - once again very knowledgeable guide who was also concerned about the safety of the group. Hotel Geirland was clean, the food was great and the beds were comfortable. Highly recommend this tour! Great value for money as well.
