Hveravellir is a unique nature reserve situated on the Kjölur route in the middle of the west highlands between the glaciers of Langjökull and Hofsjökull. There is a famous natural pool in the geothermal area here. Accommodation is offered for up to 50 guests and there is also a good camping area. There are WC and shower facilities as well as a restaurant.
The Highland Center Hrauneyjar (Hálendismiðstöðin) is situated at the edge of the country’s most impressive and active volcanic area, surprisingly enough only 150 km from Reykjavik. The Centre is both easy to find and travel to - there is an excellent paved road providing all year round access for every kind of vehicle.
