CenterHotel Thingholt is located next to Reykjavik’s main shopping street, Laugavegur. The building, which originally accommodated the Ísafold Printing Factory from 1943, has now been converted into an exclusive design hotel and is a great example of Icelandic contemporary design.
CenterHotel Thingholt offers 50 air-conditioned guestrooms, all of which are decorated in a sleek, contemporary style inspired by Icelandic nature.
In Thingholt you have a choice of four different room types: standard rooms, deluxe rooms, junior suites and loft suites. The deluxe rooms offer a choice of either a white leather sofa or a bathtub, which in some rooms is located next to the bed in the main bedroom. The junior suites offer both a sofa and a bath tub and the loft suites, which are the most spacious, are on two floors with the living room downstairs and the bedroom upstairs.
CenterHotel Thingholt is designed by an Icelandic female architect, Gulla Jonsdottir. Gulla owns G+ Gulla Jonsdottir Design in Los Angeles and has taken part in designing hotels in the US such as the Crescent Hotel in Beverly Hills and Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel.
The floors are composed of leather tiles and the lobby walls are decorated with salmon-leather tiles. At the entrance to the hotel there is a long black lava textured wall, covered in dark glass masks representing the hidden people of Iceland with a small waterfall trickling down over them.
Adjacent to Thingholt is the popular DOMO Restaurant which has in a short period of time gained a reputation as one of the best restaurants in lceland. Head Chef Viktor Örn Andrésson, serves a delicious Asian/French menu in a trendy but laid back atmosphere.
Located next to Reykjavik‘s main shopping street, Laugavegur, the Thingholt Hotel offers an ideal location for exploring the historic city centre; shops, restaurants, cafés, bars, nightlife and all the main city centre attractions can be found within easy walking distance.
