Enter into the heart of the Glacier! Enjoy the visit of an man-made tunnel with 50 shades of blue!
We leave Reykjavik on board the Extreme Iceland minibus. At the exit of the city, we are immersed in the beautiful sceneries of Iceland. The view offers us Hvalfjörður! This fjord, which is a famous place to see birds, has also the only whaling station in Iceland. Even if today there is no presence of whales in this fjord, whale fishing is allowed in the country since 2006 but with restrictions of course!
Then, the interesting guide drives us to Hraunfossar & Barnafoss waterfalls. These ones are amazing because of the very blue water coming from the glacier! You will see how long Hraunfossar warterfall is with its water falling down on the lava formations. Barnafoss, "the waterfall of the children", is named after a story: once upon a time there was a natural bridge over this one and children living next to it died drowned into the water. Their mother decided to destroy that bridge.
Next stop: Langjökull glacier! After a good lunch in the restaurant next to it, the Monster Truck is waiting for us. From here, the guides of the company "Into the glacier" is in charge of us. Langjökull is the second largest glacier in Europe, and it's amazing to see how the Monster Truck can climb on the ice. On the top of Langjökull you won't be disappointed: Welcome to the ice moon!
You will enter in the man-made ice cave where the lights through the ice create wonderful effects. You are going inside the Wall because Winter is coming! A new world of blue ice is offered to you. Walking through the 500 m long tunnel is incredible and we can notice the difference from snow to ice. Into the chapel, the acoustic is magic and we were lucky to hear an icelandic song 30 m underneath the surface! Afterwards, a surprise is waiting for you outside ;)
On the way back to Reykjavik, two more stops made us enjoy the particularities of Iceland: Reykholt swimming pool & Deildartunguhver highest-flow thermal spring in Europe where the steam is visible from very far away.
This tour gathers the wonders of Iceland: hotspots, waterfalls, fjords, glacier... It's an unique experience in the majestic nature of this beautiful country!
